Our Roots & Inspiration.
Hailing from northern Minnesota, our Scandinavian roots can’t help but to seep out and make their way into everything we touch. From Norse mythology to modern Scandinavian design, Folklore Eyewear embodies the perfect combination of the rich mythology of our ancestors with the minimalist aesthetic Scandinavian designers are well known for.
Why Folklore Eyewear?
Our goal is to offer you the same quality (or better!) design, materials, and attention to detail found in some of the eyewear industry’s most famous (and expensive) brands. As you become familiar with Folklore Eyewear, you will learn that we will exceed the quality standards of eyewear priced 3-10 times higher than us.
We believe great eyewear shouldn’t hold your bank account hostage.
That being said, Folklore Eyewear isn’t your typical cash-infused, Silicon-Valley-style startup. Instead, it has been bootstrapped by a humble husband and wife team from northern Minnesota. We come from the world of creatives, eyewear designers and manufacturers with first-hand experience in what it takes to create quality eyewear.
Ultimately, this has been the culmination of 10 years of blood, sweat, and tears. A strong desire to create something meaningful and serve it to the world.

Great Design
The foundation of all great eyewear starts with outstanding design. We work hand in hand with our manufacturers to create timeless designs that will keep you looking great for years to come.
Quality Materials
Once a design is finalized, we use only the best materials to create our frames. All of our frames are made from 100% Mazzucchelli Italian acetate, polished and finally buffed by hand. Both our aspheric reading glasses lenses and polarized (UV400) sunglasses are created from ultra-durable CR-39 plastic and feature anti-reflective coatings.
Attention to Detail
All of our frames feature 3, 5, or 7-barrel stainless steel hinges for durability and smooth movement as well as wire core running the full length of the temples for maximum adjustability. Our frames are finished off with front and temple rivets to anchor its construction and add a little aesthetic flair.
All frames, readers, and sunglasses come with a microfiber cleaning cloth and a handmade leather eyewear case created by us in our small Minnesota workshop.
Overall, you’ll notice we tend to ignore the bottom line to deliver you the type of product we would want to receive ourselves.
